With a variety of choices and manufacturers of artificial palms will have you decorating a bare corner and turning it into a tropical paradise in moments or if used outdoors to add beauty to your landscaping making it a restful haven when you are relaxing entertaining with your friends on the patio. When looking at palms you automatically think of tropical islands or resorts. Having your own palm will give you that effect without any maintenance.
I had always thought about getting an artificial palm tree for home as I have found myself spending far too much time remembering to water, feed and cleaning up the mess from live trees, giving them all of the this love only to have them die.
Maybe I fussed about the plants too much I really don’t know, but it was then that I started to look more closely what was readily available in the market place today.
If I was going to purchase an artificial tree it really needed to look life like and not a cheap imitation that screamed fake! I have seen excellent looking artificial trees so life like you needed to get up close for a closer inspection before knowing it was fake. There are many benefits in acquiring an artificial palm tree, one is to add a little bit of nature to your home or use the tree to add a finishing touch to your decor, after the initial cost of purchasing the palm there is no further ongoing costs involved in maintaining the tree. In an office environment the trees can be used to screen off a section of the office or to soften a stark office by adding a little greenery.
Further use around the office is that trees can absorb noise making the open plan work area a little quieter to work within. Further benefits of owning a fake palm is that there is no need to water, fertilise or pick up fronds that have died and fallen to the ground. No worries if you are to go on holidays on who will come around to water the plants, you won’t have to dig it up if it gets too big for the one place ever again.
With the artificial palm tree it has a real looking trunk that is the main central support; the external covering is there to disguise the real material used for the trunk along with detachable fronds. The fake trunk is fixed at a central point that supports the entire tree.
The palms are made from various materials which may include a mixture of plastic, canvas, steel and fibreglass, the fronds are sometimes made of poly blend plastic that is durable the trunks are pressure treated pine, which make the palm look natural. The cost of an artificial palm tree is varied and can cost anything from $50 – $1000 depending upon the species. As you may imagine artificial trees are as varied in materials used and the type of palm, foliage span and height needs to be taken into consideration.
I have found that fake palms can be potted into decorator containers just like real trees. All that needs to be done is to tape holes, put in a mixture of weights including stones or brick and as a finishing touch to cover the weights I have used coconut fibre or I have used large white pebbles which give a nice modern effect around the palm. To ensure that the plant fits in with the rest of the decor I have grouped a further 2 other smaller pots close to the palm which have been potted with other fake plants and they look fantastic.
